FRANK DEFORD AWAKES FROM NAP, REALIZES ATHLETES ARE ALSO ENTERTAINERS

To us, athletes and actors are one in the same: LeBron James plays basketball, Eva Longoria stars in Desperate Housewives; they both compete for our attention, and we all win. It's that simple. So we never understood people when they'd say that athletes really aren't entertainers; that athletes are somehow different than actors regarding their entertainment "value," so to speak. Those people confuse us. Frank Deford of SI, it seems, is one of those people; although it appears as if he is starting to come around. Upon seeing pictures of Tiger Woods' baby on the Inter-Webs, Deford writes, "it occurred to me that this is yet another step up for athletes, crossing over into the entertainment world." Deford has been covering sports for how long again? It has taken him until now to realize that athletes themselves are entertainers? Somebody, quick, give that old man a warm glass of milk and put him back to bed.
